ughhhh!!!

So today is one of those, "why did i sign up for teaching days?". I am very grateful to God for the opportunity to teach and impart knowledge to young minds that are bound to impact our world either positively or negatively because neutrality is not an option. My sincere hope is that they will be positive forces but somedays I am afraid that some of my students may not be. The high school principal mentioned to us that we are nurturing young oaks, but somedays the young oaks really get on my nerves and all the "id" tells me to do is hack them down. Today I read in the paper about a 50 year old science teacher on trial for hitting a student with a dumbell after losing his patience and the scary thing was that I could really understand the teacher's frustration. Don't get me wrong; he had no right to hit the student with anything for that matter but he felt so disrespected and obviously chose the wrong way to deal with it.
I am a first year science teacher and I am still struggling to find the right way to deal with my frustrations because bottling them up is bound to end in a "dumbell" scenario when the top finally blows off. God forbid.
So what is good fertilizer for these young oaks?! My forest is in jeopardy.
